About Uncle Jerry's Photo Restoration Group
This group is named in memory of it's founder, Gerald “Uncle Jerry” Pierce
***********************************************************************************
Any photo posted here may be "played" with by others for use as an explanation in this group only. If you don't want this please say so in your description.
I strongly prefer that any postings in this group be Creative Commons License. This allows us to do derivative works for examples. But if they are labeled All Rights reserved then you must get permission 1st before you "play" with it.
Please post higher resolution scans if you can. It's easier for us to help if we can see them & it's much easier to restore a higher resolution scan. It would also be nice if people mentioned why they are posting. Tracking your own restoration or maybe requesting one.
Anyone interested in repairing or colorizing old or damaged photos. Including correcting/improving "new" photos. This is for both the beginner & for the experienced among us. I would prefer that we have "before & after" photos so we can see & learn from each other. You can post as many photos here as you want as long as they fall within the above criteria. Collages, etc. from old photos that have been restored or colorized also belong here. See this for example: www.flickr.com/photos/martinsphotoart/10387532/in/pool-90...
If you are having problems with a particular photo or group of photos, just post an example here. We'll see if anyone can help solve the problem. This technique has already worked. But PLEASE be aware that any photo posted here may be "played" with by others. And then reposted in this group. If you don't want your photos "played" with PLEASE post that in the description. Any work with "All Rights reserved" license is automatically protected & you must get permission 1st to play with it.
Anyone who wants to try this but needs old photos can use any of mine(Uncle Jerry) If you want I can email you high resolution versions of the ones I have here. Because most of the ones I have on Flickr have been restored to some degree. This offer is for the use in the Restoration & Colorization group only.
Any new member, who wants to learn how to do this, would be well served to go back to the beginning of this group. And see how we did things. How much we've learned from one another. And how much we have progressed.
I'm trying to keep the rules to a minimum & that's why most of this is just a suggestion. The only rule that will be enforced is that the photo must have been manipulated somehow.
And even then I'll ask for a clarification before I do anything drastic, like delete the photo. Because I hate it when my photos are deleted for some arbitrary reason & the Admin didn't bother to get clarification. And I want to treat everyone the same as I would like to be treated. I'm not on a "power trip"
