About UK Class 323

This small batch of trains was built by Hunslet Transporation Projects Limited, using resources who walked out en mass from Metro-Cammel. The train proved to be competent at what it was designed for after a few teething troubles, and was bought by British Rail Provincial, which became Regional Railways.

In private hands, Central Trains had the bigger batch for Centro area services, and First North Western had the smaller batch for Greater Manchester services. These became respectively London Midland and Northern Rail. Maybe, the Norhern Rail 323 might move to West Midlands some day.
