About "UK Fine Art Landscape Photography" (Invited)

FINDING THE ART IN NATURE

This group is exclusively for photographic fine art images of the UK Landscape.

It is also a moderated group, both for membership and for images in the group pool (see the rules below for more details).

DEFINING UK 'FINE ART LANDSCAPES'.

The art of landscape in the UK has a long and distinguished history in the arts (Turner, Constable, Piper et al) and in recent centuries the British landscape has also featured in some outstanding photographic works (most recently Peter Watson, Tim Ayres, Martin Parr, John Davies, Charlie Waite, Joe Cornish, David Ward, Chris Wainwright, etc) This new group is intended to contain the very best contemporary British photographic landscape work displayed on the Flickr site.

Fine art photographic landscapes is defined as including works which depict scenery such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, and also cityscapes which include natural elements, major rivers, surrounding hills etc.

Although Sky and/or weather is often a feature of such work, shots can range from vast panoramas, to relative close ups (for instance posts sticking out of a beach) or rock formations etc,

Purely abstract/conceptual photographic works depicting, or evoking, the British landscape are also welcomed, as are highly sophisticated digital alterations and/or recompositions of the UK landscape.

Please reserve this for your very best works only. All works displayed here must show an artistic as well as a technical understanding of their medium and subject. This is a group which is all about quality, not quantity. (SEE REVISED RULES BELOW)

PLEASE NOTE: All works must be of landscapes in the UK

This is an invite only group, and welcomes applications from excellent UK fine art landscape photographers.

GROUP RULES (Revised 18th February 2008)

1. Membership is approved by all admins/moderators with three or more objections in 48 hours meaning rejection. Acceptance to the group is made on the whole portfolio of an applicant and it is open for applicants to build up a better portfolio and return again to apply for membership later.

2. Restriction of one posting per day and all posting to be moderated by Admins/Moderators. All submitted photos will be waiting in a pool to be approved.

3. All members should examine their existing and future contributions in light of the remit of the group and not submit (or retain in the pool) any pieces that they feel to be repetitious, or less than the very best quality (i.e. consider each piece in terms of 'exhibition quality' and how ‘inspirational’ they might be to others and look at the best works of others too).

4. Admins and Moderators reserve the right to remove any pieces that they agree are not of the required standard. This also counts for existing pieces which entered before the rules were tightened.

Thes rules are designed to ensure that the group pool is recognisably different from the general UK landscape groups, and one of which we can all be proud to show to others both in the UK and around the world.
