About Uig & Bernera

Uig & Bernera, on the Isle of Lewis.

This is a new group, so thanks to those who have added to it, and if you haven't joined yet, please do!

The Parish of Uig is the southwest bit of the Isle of Lewis, up to the Harris border at the head of the Loch Resort. The bounds of the parish have moved over the years but West Uig, with the islands of Great Bernera and Little Bernera, all the (now) uninhabited islands of Loch Roag, and Tir Mor, the 'mainland' side of the Bernera Bridge, are deep in the heart of it.

High points are Mealisbhal (the highest mountain in Lewis) and Suainebhal; blindingly beautiful points are the shell-white sands of Traigh Uig, Traigh na Berie, Bosta and little Berneray. It's just begging for more photographers.
