Well if you're really worried I'd put her on the cat pill 'till she's old enough to be spayed.
I'd definitely have the male kitten neutered too, otherwise he might start peeing in your house to mark his territory. And once he starts doing that, it's really hard to get him to _stop_ doing it.

What's the holdup having them spayed and neutered right now? It is not a requirement to wait until they are 6 months old anymore.

I don't know what the rules are elsewhere, but here in Florida they can be spayed at six weeks. At 4 months she is old enough no matter where you live. If money is an issue try contacting your local humane society. They can give you listings of low cost spay/nueter clinics in your area.

I'd say that for the time being get the female spayed and get the male neutered when he's about 9-10 months old. This way you'll avoid any unwanted kittens and any unwanted smells in the house.

weird! i had my ginger cat neutered when he was young because he was so vicious, but my tux is now nearly a year old and shows no signs of normal male cat behaviour whatsoever! he doesnt need neutering! i was starting to think it was a feature of tuxedo cats.....

My vet told me not to worry until my girl was at least 5 months old, and we scheduled an appointment accordingly. But she went into heat about 2-3 weeks before that appointment, and it was THE WORST THING EVER!!!!! Nothing could stop her from calling and shouting at the top of her lungs, non-stop! I think you should call the vet and ask to be scheduled sooner.
