A collection of photographs taken on the grounds of the Turtle Bay Exploration Park & McConnell Arboretum in Redding, California--and additionally of the Sundial Bridge.

Photographs may include the many events and exhibits featured at the Park. You may wish to check the Turtle Bay Calendar of Events to find out what is scheduled for this month.


THINGS TO DO, SEE, AND PHOTOGRAPH AT TURTLE BAY

* Turtle Bay Museum - permanent, interactive and visiting exhibits

* McConnell Arboretum & Gardens - Special Events and themes including--the California Garden; the South African Garden; the Pacific Rim Garden; the Australian Garden; the Chilean Garden; the Medicinal Garden; Mediterranean Basin Garden; the Butterfly Garden; and the Children's Garden

* Paul Bunyan's Forest Camp - Children's play area, trail, and activities

* Butterfly Exhibit - hundreds of live butterflies in an enclosed walk-in exhibit (Seasonal - May 1 to Oct. 1)

* Exotic Bird Exhibit - View, feed, and photograph beautiful birds in an enclosed walk-in aviary (Seasonal - May 1 to Oct. 1)

* The Monolith

* The Sundial Bridge -A beautiful foot bridge, designed by Spanish architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava. The bridge spans the Sacramento River between the Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the McConnell Arboretum. The bridge is free to visit. Park in the far left Turtle Bay parking lot and follow the short walk to the bridge.

* The bridge is especially beautiful to photograph at night.

Group Guidelines

Posed people/family shots do not fit into this category. People should be incidental to, rather than the focus of, the image. The purpose of the group is to display the many wonderful features of the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, McConnell Arboretum, and the Sundial Bridge.

Light photo correcting/filtering is acceptable. However, the image must retain a natural appearance and not appear overworked, harsh, or stark.

Note: HDR, DRI, or other heavy manipulations that renders an image to a degree that appears unnatural, is not acceptable for this group.

Please post your HDR or DRI photos in the appropriate pools:

HDR group pool, DRI group pool, or any of the many groups specifically designated for manipulated images.

Black & White, Sepia Toned Images, or Creatively Colored Images do not fit in this Group. However, there are many other groups on Flickr where these photos may be displayed

Submission Limit - 1-4 photos at-a-time.

* Photo Moderation has been activated. Images will be released to the group periodically throughout each day.

This is a family friendly group. Therefore your Photostream must be rated "Safe" by Flickr to join. Nudity, semi-nudity, or sensationalism of any kind is not permitted.
