About Begging* Dogs / Trick Dogs
Photos of dogs begging or performing other tricks; modern or vintage images.
* Staring longingly isn't enough -- the dog(s) gotta be sitting up on his/her haunches or doing other tricks. Catching a ball or frisbee is pretty much a natural behavior and isn't the kind of trained/trick activity that we're looking for in this group. However, say, balancing up in the air on the owner's feet in anticipation of a frisbee being thrown would quality as a trained trick. A dog holding a frisbee between his paws would qualify. While performing agility equipment is a trained behavior, there are enough agility groups already to exclude those photos from this pool. Performing a basic "down" a "sit", or a "stay" is not enough. We looking for something a little more active or unusual (rolling over, pulling a wagon with a rope, leg weaving, hand stands, standing on a beach ball, etc.) Sitting on a skateboard is not enough but riding one is fine. Although if we suddenly get get tons of skateboard-riding shots, we might have to change this policy. Wearing clothes isn't enough. Photos or videos that show interaction between owner and dog performing a trick are definitely welcome!
Basically, the "trick" should be something that is trained rather than just some quirky thing the dog does on his/her own with no training. Determing this is sometimes a moderator's best-guess. For instance, a caption that says something like "Daisy does this weird thing while I'm getting her dinner ready" is a clear indication that it's not a trick. A photoshop-ed image of a dog appearing to be doing something that he/she really isn't might be cute -- but it doesn't qualify for the pool.
Hoo boy -- that's a huge description but I hope it clarifies things. This group gets a lot of unsuitable submissions and I'm trying to keep things on track. If in doubt, submit it anyway and let me decide if it's "tricky" enough. Thanks for your contributions!
