About The Triangle Strobist

This group is for local photographers in the Triangle [NC] area that have an interest in different lighting techniques for all subject matters, to include portrait, still life, product shots, commercial spreads.
If you are new to lighting, there are many great tutorials out there, but you will learn faster by using lights yourself. A good read is Lighting 101 on the strobist website.

Group Rules.
Triangle Strobist Flickr group rules-
-Must be from within driving distance of the Triangle. If you profile says your "Current" location is not in NC, SC or VA...you probably aren't within driving distance.
Admins will remove those members that do not meet this criteria.
-Your photostream should have something that is "available" to those that look at it and you should have an icon (not a gray blocky face).
-Must contribute to group. This could be gear, locations, models, etc. Offer to plan and or host a meetup, offer to help a "newbie' with lighting, instead of shooting at a meetup, etc.
-This is not a group to build your portfolio
-If you want to plan a Triangle Strobist meetup please see the rules about meet ups below-
-Only post photos relative to lighting techniques.
-Include a brief description of the lighting set-up. Photos posted without lighting info specifics will be removed from the pool.
-Posting limit of five photos a day.
-Please tag all photos with "triangle strobist" for searchability.
-This group focuses more on the learning and knowledge share of lighting, not building portfolios.
-We try to have at least 1 meetup per month which is typically the 3rd Tuesday of the Month
-Meetups are open only to members of the group. No cross posting to face book or other groups etc.
-Anyone can set up a meetup at anytime, but note the rules below.
If you want to plan a meetup, please do so and see the rules below:
-Must provide/secure the location
-Must have details finalized one week prior to the date of meetup
-Use this as a guide from the Strobist website
www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/discuss/72157602101382708/
-If you step up to plan a meetup you take ownership of all the details, this doesn't mean you can't ask for help but don't' expect someone to do it for you.
-Keep in mind that Triangle Strobist meetups are not geared toward gaining portfolio shots. Not saying you wont' come home with some, but make sure that they are geared toward learning to light.
