Thanks to all who entered and voted.... you are a great bunch :)))))
Here are the winners!!!!!
FIRST PLACE
#11 By Serigrapher

Rowan tree among the heather on Bleaklow, Derbyshire. I can't see a rowan without recalling these lyrics:
I once courted a maid, a spot-welder by trade
She was fair as the rowan in bloom
And the blue of her eye matched the June moorland sky
And I wooed her from April to June
On the day that we should have been married
I went for a ramble instead
For sooner than part from the mountains
I think I would rather be dead
From The Manchester Rambler by Ewan McColl
SECOND PLACE
#22 Coast Redwood (sequoia sempervirens) by Tom Holub

The Bay Area was once covered with sequoia sempervirens, the world's tallest tree; now, only a few old-growth stands remain, in places like Muir Woods. In the East Bay, the redwood forests were all clear-cut to make way for housing--not that I can complain, as I live in Oakland in a house with lots of redwood beams. These trees, in Redwood Regional Park, are second or third growth, probably planted around 1920.
THIRD PLACE
#20 by Ingrid0804
Danish traditional songs are full of praise for the pale green beech woods, Beech trees immigrated to the country around 4500 years ago from Southern Europe.

***********************Competition 'LONELY TREES' *************************
There is no first, second and third this time as the top three photos got the same number of points each and so I have decided to have three outright winners instead.
Congratulations to all three, very well deserved.
