As spectacular as the scenery may be, often it is the people we meet that make our travels unforgettable. Post your best travel portraits and candids here.

THE RULES....we gotta have 'em

- Photos should be of the LOCAL people. These pictures should tell something about the culture, local customs etc.... The photos SHOULD NOT be of you and your friends/family on holiday.

- The people should be the MAIN SUBJECT and not lost in the background. There are other groups for landscape shots.

- No typical STREET PHOTOGRAPHY, there are lots of other groups for that.

- And ABSOLUTELY......NO OFFENSIVE NUDITY. NO VIOLENCE/DISTURBING IMAGES.
Photos deemed inappropriate will be removed.

SOME EXPLANATION ON THE GROUP TITLE.
There are 3 important words in it: TRAVEL, PORTRAIT and LOCAL.

PORTRAITS
Portrait photography or portraiture is the capture by means of photography of the likeness of a person or a small group of people (a group portrait), in which the face and expression is predominant.
The objective is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is the person's face, although the entire body and the background may be included. A portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the camera.

TRAVEL
Travel is the movement of people or objects (such as airplanes, boats, trains and other conveyances) between relatively distant geographical locations.
Motives to travel include pleasure, relaxation, discovery and exploration, getting to know other cultures and taking personal time for building interpersonal relationships. Travel may be local, regional, national (domestic) or international.

LOCAL as in local community
A local community is a group of interacting people sharing an environment. In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness.
