About Trick or Treat Project AUS 2009
Not long to go til Halloween...
On October 31, 2009 many will be out trick or treating....
Neighbourhoods packed with cheer, ghastly and ghoulish costumes and a sense of community...
In a world of bulging waist-lines, candy isn't always appreciated as a gift, nor does the idea of handing candy away appeal to many people.
This surprisingly visual event often goes un-recorded, and even though it may be more popular in America, Australia can have just as much fun, if not more.

Are you looking for a unique challenge?
The Trick or Treat Project AUS 2009 aims to give back a little more.
What: Trick Or Treat
When: Saturday October 31, 2009, After dark, til no later than 9pm.
How: A virtual meetup around Australia of photographers.
The idea:
On Saturday 31, 2009 shortly after dark, many will be out trick or treating.
Photographers in pairs (for safety and authenticity) will be roaming suburban neighbourhoods in the heat of the trick or treating activities. This follows the same operation as trick or treating, but instead of candy or a trick, the photographer at the door asks to take a portrait picture of the person/s who answer the door. The only trick to this is they must pull a scary face.
The photographer will then take a quick note of the persons name, and hand them a flier with all the details of where to find their image - ie, in this group. (fliers will be designed).
The project works in a few ways:
- Helps raise the profile of the Photographer/s flickr page - extra hits, drawing in those who may not browse the site
- Helps raise awareness of Flickr in general
- Allows people to have a fun portrait taken and displayed online.
- A fun alternative to candy.
I am seeking expressions of interest from Photographers all around Australia for this to happen on Halloween, October 31, 2009.
