that seems like it'd be pretty simple, if there are more people interested i could do that.

definately interested.
the result should be printable at high-res for standard business card sizes, I think.. the shown sample seems to be a bit off-sized?
edit: ignore the comment above.. clicking the link shows the real image :)
would be nice to have a row of small thumbnails in the card though..

We talked extensively about something like this in the Atlanta group.
We all agreed we wanted some, but never decided what to do about it.
We got some word from the officials that they would be providing postcards. What I'm supposed to do with a post card, I have no idea, but these "business cards" would be great. I actually prefer to call them "calling cards," since they are personal, ie non-commercial in nature.
Perhaps a single-sided and double-sided version?

So, who's putting there hand up?
I've often thought about a card to identify as a legitimate/amatuer photographer. There was some public discussion here (Australia) recently about banning people taking photos in public places such as beaches because of paedophile concerns. Kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater (excuse the pun) if you ask me...
A card would be a good option.

well, as i mentioned i'd be willing to give it a shot. i'll start working on it :)
i think a single image would be the best thing to produce, as this would give people more flexibility in how they decide to print it out.

I ordered free business cards at Vistaprint .. But when I received them, i saw that they printed "get your free cards at Vistaprint" on the back of the cards .. You need to pay for mail transport, so they in the end have a cheap ad .. every time I'd hand in a card, their name is spread .. I am not using the cards .. :(
let people upload their own backdrop scherre! .. that'll make it personal .. just make a template for the image they should upload ..

.m if you sign up for their mailing list, VistaPrint send out heaps of really great special offers.
I get all my cards, stickers, postcards from them, and pay very little. Like US$3.99 for 250 business cards, with no ad on the back. It's only the free cards that have the ad on the back. Even adding on postage to Australia, they're still extremely good value.

It's a cool idea. I'd like to be able to choose the Creative Commons license, though.

I'm not to bright though. Would Walmart or Snapfish or that previously mentioned VistaPrint cheaply print me out some cards. I have a printer but it sucks and I never use it because it's evil. I just want to have someone else print off my cards.

ted - by the looks of walmsrt's website, you can upload you pictures online and get prints at you local store an hour later for 19c for a 4x6, which would fit two cards on. all you'd have to do would be cut it in half. i've found that department stores photo printing is a cheap and fast way to get heaps of stuff printed :)
