Fireworks were by individuals on the beach--being shot off from an area close to St. Joseph State Park out into the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida. www.cbforgottencoast.com/mappage.htm
Not knowing where the fireworks would show up, I shot this from my townhouse top floor balcony--handheld--set on "Fireworks" Scene Mode--about 4 seconds with Vibration Reduction-ON.

Like Old Shoe Lady, I simply used my Nikon's "Fireworks" scene mode and a tripod. As revealed from the more details page, that breaks down to a 4 sec exposure at f/7.8 with ISO 50. Though I'm overall pleased with the results, next year I may manually fiddle around with a higher shutter speed and smaller F-stop to get more of a "frozen time" look.

I've never tried capturing fireworks until this year. It's HARD! Takes good timing and constant shutter speed adjustments. Here's the best I could come up with:

Here are a pair of mine. I took so many I have not sorted through them all yet. I was quite pleased with the results even though I forgot to change the lens before I left the house so I have no wide shots. Next year. :)
