The only mouse-over text for the logo that I'm getting in Internet Explorer says: "Flickr Logo: click to get home", but the file name for the image is the joke: gossipgossipgossip.gif.
FYI: The mouse-over was probably not displaying in Firefox because the text for the mouseover is contained in the image's HTML "alt" tag, which should only appear if the image doesn't load or you have images turned off in your browser.
It shows up Internet Explorer, however, because IE incorrectly shows the "alt" text for images even when the image is displayed.

Is there some insidious motive here ... the logo with the file name gossipgossipgossip.gif has just about every logo under the sun expect a certain 5 letter word starting with Y (which apparently according to Blogsphere is the root cause behind the gossip) !!!

The way 'flickr' is written, its a combination of google's logo (multicolored) and yahoo's logo (font and haphazard arrangement)...
And yeah, I don't think there's any 'mouseover' you're missing... nothing in the code anyway.

I really really hope they will first continue to develop flickr further before selling it to Yamicrogoopple .. But then again, it's only gossip .. And in that case, TU to flickr for temporarily replacing the original logo .. flickr's GUI is too consistent for this logo anyway :)

To explain that the bag at the bottom is. in The Game Neverending, which is what Ludicorp was working on when they accidentally unleashed the Flickr juggernaut, you could gather
1 Web + 1 Hype + 1 Venture Capital
and you would create a New Economy. That bag is a Venture Capital.
If you deployed a New Economy when you were in a room with a bunch of other people in it, you would suddenly get very rich while everyone around you went broke. It was great fun. Unsuspecting people deployed them in crowded rooms and accidentally robbed all their friends. Subsequently everyone went somewhere private to enjoy their New Economies.
And if this makes no sense at all, well, you shoulda been there in the Game Neverending!

I rather like the new Logo . It makes me smile. all those little logo's surounding Flickr. seems they are protecting our favorite photo program.
the collors are bright and happy please keep it this way....and don't listen to all those grumpy people , they never had a childhood , or anything that made them laugh...

The new logo ist downright DISGUSTING! I joined Flickr some days ago, one reason being that it has a very cute design/interface. But changes like this freak me out -- i don't think such a logo is the right environment for my pictures.*endoftantrum*
