About Today I ate...

Hi

Thank you for your interest my food project. Here's little more information, but first a few questions.

1. Do you have access to a digital camera or a mobile phone with a camera?
2. Do you have access to a computer that has Microsoft Excel or Word?
3. Can you set up an account on www.flickr.com - it's free

(You don't HAVE to have a camera, but it would help)

So, what's this all about?
I'm conducting some research into people's eating habits/menus for something on the BBC's website.

What do I need to do?
Record you menu's, meals and thoughts for at least a week (though longer would be even better!)

How do I record them?
Set up an account on flickr.com and let me know your user name (mail it to eyedropper@mac.com) or add me as a contact(http://www.flickr.com/people/eyedropper/)

If you can, please photograph everything you put it your mouth, breakfast, lunch, dinner, free stuff, colleagues leaving cake, late night kebab etc. You don't have to be David Bailey, just take a record of everything as you go along. On Flickr you can add notes and text saying what was in the meal, who you ate it with, where you ate it, etc. You can also add the ingredients and links to a recipe if you want to, or just describe your method.

Also can you let me know your age and location. You can do this privately.

I've not got a camera but still want to take part!
Sure. you can download an excel spreadsheet that will help you from here homepage.mac.com/eyedropper/docs/weekatmytable.xls but if you can try to take pictures.

What's in it for me again?
Sadly this research is all of my own bat in my own time. I can't promise you anything more than honest thanks and the chance to take part in something that hopefully if it gets commissioned, will be something really big for the BBC. We're interested in the details mind, so the more information you put, the better. Also if you can manage more than a week, you'll be surprised how much you eat certain things, or how often you eat with people, and this should help you capture that. If anyone lasts a month, they'll get a bottle of fizz!

How do I know you're not up to something?
After I've gathered the research it will be used to prove the point that a much larger look at the Nation's food can take place. I won't sell on or disclose any of your private information to any third party. If you want to pull out at anytime, you can simple delete your flickr account, and I'll remove any information I have. You have my word on this.

One last time, what are you interested in?
I'm interested in food, the preparation you use, who you eat it with, and how it makes you feel.

Great! I'm in!
