31 Jul 09 - Hi Guys! The group is fairly new, you probably found us by a comment we wrote on one of your lovely photos. Help us get started and add your photos of "To Let" signs to the stream, thanks a lot!

About To Let Signs

A monument for all the letting agents in the world, photos of all your to let signs, as they appear on the side of buildings, in our streets, up and down the country.

People are moving in and moving out, all the time, these signs tell the world that times are changing here - people are on the move. This movement is the livelihood of the letting agent. But they are also a subtle reminder of the state of our economy. Those empty offices and homes, unwanted, spell a downturn in progress. The large plastic 'To Let' sign above a empty shop window is a grave stone, all that is left, of a persons commercial dream.

From anyone who has lived in rented flats knows, these signs are either never taken down after you move in, or show up 3 months before you move out!

For you photographers, this is a perfect group to display your take to make something ubiquitous as the 'To Let' sign, a sign that has so little design effort put into it, and make it shine.

It doesn't matter if your letting sign isn't in London (where most 'To Let' signs seem to be nowadays), or even if it's not in the UK. And you don't have to be a customer of Letopedia either. The 'To Let' sign doesn't have to be for letting out a home or shop either, it can be anything that can be 'letted' out.

No off-topic photos, any will be deleted. No for sale signs. For Rent signs are also okay. Flickr makes you become a member of the group before you can add your photos, if you don't want to stay a member after you've added something, that's fine; you can remove your membership and still keep your photos in the group.

The best photos are "where's wally'" style photos, where the to let sign isn't the main item, but somewhere random. Wider shots are also appreciated rather than just up close.
