About The Monroe Institute
The Monroe Institute (TMI) is located in Faber, Virginia and was founded in the 1970s by bestselling author Robert Monroe ("Journeys out of the body", "Ultimate Journey").
Frequest sessions where participants listen to sound created using the institutes Hemi-Sync technology and group activities play key roles in their workshops and retreats, whose goal is to induce altered states of consciousness. These states, some of which could be compared to deep levels of meditation, can be used as tools for exploring the Self or the afterlife. Many people also come to the institute with an expectation to experience out-of-body experiences (OoBEs).
