About Food for Thought Photo Contest

If your artistic Eye is bigger than your stomach…

If you are what you eat and you eat what you see, then it’s time to take out your camera. Be it Andy Warhol’s soup can or da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” some of the best art is inspired by food. The Light Factory’s current exhibition, Food for Thought, features everything from fresh crops to genetically modified cooking, consumerism and spam.
Now it’s your turn to photograph the statement the world has been waiting to see.

Here’s all you have to do:
1.Photograph your food-related statement.
2.Log onto www.flickr.com. Set up a Flickr account (if you don’t have one already) and join The Light Factory/Charlotte Eye Food for Thought group.
3.Follow Flickr’s instructions to add your photo to the group. Please give your name, the location of the photograph and some information about the photo.

Here’s what you can win:
1.The top six winners will be featured in Charlotte Eye Magazine.
2.The grand winner will get their photo on the COVER OF EYE!
3.The grand winner will receive complimentary dinner for two from Blue Restaurant ($150 value, alcohol not included).

Winners will be judged on overall creativity – get funky and abstract! Winners will consist of the photography experts and general cool folks at The Light Factory.

Entries will be accepted through Wednesday, April 16, so get to it!
Questions? Contact Dee Grano, Director of Marketing at The Light Factory (dgrano@lightfactory.org) or Linnea Beyer, Gallery Manager at The Light Factory (lbeyer@lightfactory.org) at 704-333-9755.

Contest rules:
1.When you upload a photograph to the Flickr site, you must upload a version that is high resolution (300 dpi sized to at least 12” x 12”) that will print well in the Magazine.
2.Be sure to set your Flickr filter to “safe,” so everyone can view your photos.
3.There is no limit to how many photographs can be uploaded by one person, but only one photograph per photographer is eligible to win.
4.Anywhere your photograph is published, you will be given proper credit as the photographer. You MUST provide your name as you would like it reproduced in the magazine on Flickr. Example: If your Flickr username is sillygirl44 and you do not provide your real name, then you will be recognized in Charlotte Eye Magazine as sillygirl44.
5.Winning photographs cannot include nudity or questionable subject matter.
