About Time & Place

Photo of the week

My grandparents and mother at the getaway Bungalow, 1928 by spysgrandson--thanks for 690,000+ views

Group philosophy

This group is dedicated to collecting and discussing photographs that fit the "Time & Place" concept.

That could mean different things to different people. What does it mean to you?

To us, it means images of places that could have only been taken at the time they were taken, that tell a story about that place and that time that is relevant to you and will be interesting to others. Consider these examples and the stories behind them:

Forces of nature! by yrrgeirs

The House That Ruth Built by Still The Oldie

Photos may be new, taken on a recent trip, or old — scanned from the family archive. Some photos will tell a compelling story of a time and place — either in the past or present. Other will give you a chance to tell a story of an experience in your own words, with the photo serving as the context.

Please study group photos, ask questions and contribute freely. Submissions will be moderated and may be removed without warning or explanation. But any questions about removal will be answered promptly.

Group rules

All photos posted to the group must be geotagged. Flickr allows to set approximate location, such as country, region or city.

Scanned photos should be properly backdated. Flickr allows you to set approximate dates the photo was taken, such as "circa 1970".

There is currently no limit on submissions.

Photos must make a reference to a time and a place they were taken either visually or through the author's narrative in the title or description.

Please tag your photos with appropriate tags reflecting place, city, country, year and decade. For tagging a decade use the following format: 1990s (not 1990's or 1990-s, or 90s).

Group invite

You can cut and paste the following in its entirety as a comment to a photo you would like to invite to the group.

This photo has got a <b><a href=http://www.flickr.com/groups/time-place>Time & Place </a></b> quality about it.
You are invited to <a href=http://www.flickr.com/groups/time-place/pool/add/>submit</a> it to our pool. Please <a href=http://www.flickr.com/help/map/#201>geotag</a> your photo to help others find it on the map.

If the photo has already been geotagged, remove the last line. Please be responsible in issuing invitations on behalf of the group. It would not look good for admins to remove a photo another member invited, even if it is a poor fit.
