About Thumbs Up Challenges

The Thumbs Up Challenges Group is a “Head-to-Head”
competition based group. There are 12 Theme/Technique
Challenges happening all at once! Compete in up to 3 of
these Challenges at the same time - Vote on ALL the
Challenges and watch to see if your favorites win (or
lose)! Only Winners are allowed to post to the Thumbs up pool.

The Rules go Thumbthing like this....

Challenge Statuses

OPEN This means the challenge has not reached the required
maximum of 3 photos. You may now enter your photo. Once you
enter a challenge, be sure to vote in all challenges listed as "VOTE". This keeps the game moving.

VOTE This means the challenge has reached the maximum of 3
photos and voting is underway.

WINNER This means the voting is over, and the winner of that
challenge has been determined.

UNANIMOUS WINNER This means the voting is over, and the
winner of that challenge has been determined by a sweep
making them eligible for our Thumb Wrestling Challenge.

VOTING

Each photo will be numbered. All you have to do is vote for
the photo you think is the best! Members may vote in challenges they are entered in, but may not vote for themselves.

The first vote will look something like this:

1-0-0

Here, the vote is for photo #1.

If the second person that votes wants to vote for photo #2, they use the preceding vote and add their vote:

1-1-0

Now, if the next person wants to also vote for photo #2, they add their vote as

1-2-0

The votes end when one person has received five votes:

1-5-3

After you vote, please check to see if someone voted at the same time as you and take a moment to correct your vote by editing it, not by adding another comment.


Winning A Challenge

The winner is the first person to receive 5 votes [except as noted].
After the winning photo has received our award comment, the
winner may then post their winning photo to the group pool.

Winning photos are no longer eligible to be entered into challenges numbered 1-11.


NUMBERED CHALLENGES

Challenges are opened by Admin/Mods only

Once a numbered challenge has been opened the first challenger may name the theme with the exception of challenge 11 which is reserved for Admin/Mod Choice. Please suggest a theme that is broad enough to entice other members to post in the challenge.

This theme is open to Admin/Mod discretion and may be changed in order to broaden the theme or if no other entries are made after an extended period.

If you are at a loss to name the theme for your photo you may post the photo simply with the theme "Second Post Chooses" leaving it up to the second Poster to arrive at a theme.

Only MEDIUM sized public photos taken by you may be posted to the challenges.

Photos should fit the theme of the Challenge

Photos that are private are subject to removal. We need your photos to be public to be able to award you and get your photos into the pool. We also need to award you if you win, so photos need to be able to be commented and tagged.

In the interest of fair play you may not change an entered photo once it has been entered unless asked to do so by an Admin/Mod.

You may only be entered in 3 challenges at one time (excluding "specials"). If you are entered in 3 and want to enter another, you must wait for one of the challenges to be closed.

You may not enter the same photo in more than one running challenge. The Monthly Challenges are excluded from this rule. If it loses a challenge, you may post that photo in a new challenge.

When entering a challenge, you must vote in all other challenges that are currently in "VOTE" status. Failure to vote in all other challenges in VOTE status will result in removal of your photos entered in all OPEN challenges. We can't keep things moving if you don't vote. Repeated Failure to vote will result in removal from the group.

Do not vote until the challenge has 3 photos in it.

Challenge 12 is an upgrade challenge open to any photo that
previously won an non unanimous award at a minimum of two
weeks prior. Winners will be awarded a Two Thumbs up award
making the photo eligible for the Thumb Wrestling Challenge.

This challenge is open to 3 photos where voting is complete
when the first photo reaches a vote of 10.

The RULES of THUMB WRESTLING Challenge

1. Entries must have won a Thumbs Up Unanimous or Two Thumbs

Up Award

2. Voting Starts after the entry of 2 photos (its a

wrestling match!)

3. You can post one MEDIUM sized Thumbs Up Unanimous or Two

Thumps Up Bonus Round Winning Photo

4. To Vote add one to the "vote" in the position you like
the best.

5. Voting ends when one photo receives 10 votes, (0-0, 9-10)

6. Winning photos are invited to post to the weekly Wrestling Challenge.

7. If you enter a Challenge you must Vote in ALL active Challenges.

8. Entry into this special challenge is not included in the limit to (3) submissions in other challenges.

9. - Your photos must be able to be viewed and commented on by any member of the group. we do understand that you may have some private photos, where only friends and family can view and comment. BUT if they are , they will NOT be able to continue in the challenge. We also need to award those winning photo's..

10. - There is NO THEME



The RULES of WEEKLY THUMB WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP


1. Entries must have won a Thumb Wrestling during the past
week [Sunday thru Saturday]

2. Post your MEDIUM sized Thumbs Up Wrestling Win Photo(s)
(yes if you won more than one post 'em all!)

3. Remember to number your photos!

4. Voting begins on Wednesday [for those down under and
other parts strewn about the globe]

5. HOW TO VOTE: Select TWO favorite photos by number to be
the final Monthly contenders! Members who enter are also
required to vote (Basically Cheer your team on!) Voting format should be as follows:

6. If you enter a Challenge you must Vote in ALL active Challenges.

7. Entry into this special challenge is not included in the limit to (3) submissions in other challenges.

8. - Your photos must be able to be viewed and commented on by any member of the group. we do understand that you may have some private photos, where only friends and family can view and comment. BUT if they are , they will NOT be able to continue in the challenge. We also need to award those winning photo's..

9. - Winning Photos will appear on the Thumbs Up front Page for a week and are invited to compete in the Monthly Thumb Wrestling Grand Championship!

AND...

You must vote once in the challenge after it is put to vote and NOT for your own submission(s) no matter how worthy they may be. :-)


Winners of the Weekly Wrestling match are then eligible and placed by an Admin in a Monthly Grand Championship. Voting it cast by a single vote for the photo you like best.


Monthly Theme Challenges are open to all members posting a photo taken within the specified time frame and depicts the named theme. At the end of the time period 1 day will be allowed to submit final entries before this challenge goes to vote. This entry is not subject to the 3 challenge rule and may be entered in other challenges throughout the given time period.

Additional Special Challenges may be posted on a periodic basis and are subject to rules posted in the heading of the Challenge

ONLY "good attitudes" will be permitted!

Admins can remove any group members for "Not playing well
with others!" (Warnings will be issued and then "WE WILL BE
WATCHING YOU !")
