About things pass away

Ostensibly, this is a group about the tendency of things to pass away, change, and disappear. People who post to this group may be old, cynical or curmudgeonly enough to possess little hope as a result of this process. Rather, they tend to focus on eliciting a sense of loss or melancholia in the face of such evanescence. However, this group is not simply about nostalgia. Past human activity and presence may be no better than the present.

More fundamentally, this group is comprised of people who may have felt more positive about processes of change at one point in their lives, but who now fail to discern anything like progress in the state of the world. While this group does tend to a kind of anthropocentrism in terms of subject-matter, group members are aware that human beings are fully capable of ugliness, degradation, inhumanity and injustice.

To be truthful, this group was established as a space for reflection about various changes that have befallen Flickr over the last several years. In the face of acute corporatisation, terms of service violations and now, the disintegration of the service's visual environment through branding, members tend to post pictures that reflect a sense of sadness and despair about the service they once loved, but now feel more and more indifferent to.
