Welcome to thingaweek!

Here you can admire the creative skills of our "thingers".

Remember, check out the current theme at www.thingaweek.co.uk . You can also submit your theme suggestions here, and sign up to our regular (not too regular!) reminder service, which will email you to let you know the current theme.

Now, go and grab that camera!

Group Description

The challenge: To take a picture on a different theme every week.

1. We pick a new theme every week.
2. You take a photograph inspired by that theme.
3. You add just one picture to the group by the Sunday evening deadline.

Some other groundrules:

Take a new picture! Your Thing must be taken during the week of the challenge. No recycling!

No digital manipulation! Post processing is okay, but limit yourself to what could be produced with traditional filters and darkroom techniques. Ultimately, this is an exercise in photography, not Photoshop.

The deadline is Sunday evening, midnight GMT, but try and aim a bit earlier if you want more feedback on your images.

There are no winners or losers (but there are badges!). Mainly though, just try to give the type of constructive feedback on others entries as you would like yourself.

Any questions? Read the (more detailed) rules or ask a question in the discussion forums.

We also have a special group for any Thing a Week related pictures that aren't your actual Thing. You can post outtakes, unused shots, photos from meet-ups and other miscellanea to Thing a Week extras.

Follow @thingaweek on Twitter for updates.

Group Rules

Please note: This group is open to all, but we only accept certain photographs. Please make sure you understand what Thing a Week is about before adding to the pool.

This is how it works:

1. Every week we will select a theme. It will be announced on Monday (or late on Sunday). The theme will be chosen democratically, but an Admin will pick if there is no clear consensus in time. You can suggest themes in this discussion thread.

2. Your picture must be taken during the week of the current challenge. No recycling!

3. You can interpret the theme as literally or as creatively as you like.

4. You can use digital or traditional media. Post processing is okay, but limit yourself to what could be produced with traditional filters and darkroom techniques. Ultimately, this is an exercise in photography, not Photoshop.

5. The safety setting of the group is 'moderate', so a little bit of edge is okay.

6. You have until the next Sunday (midnight GMT!) to submit your photograph. You can take as many pictures as you like, but you can only submit one photograph (ie: one frame).

7. There are no winners or losers. Try to give as much constructive feedback on others entries as possible.

> GOTO 1
