I posted a few photos I took on Exploits Islands, a resettled community in Notre Dame Bay. My family is originally from there (250 years ago, or thereabouts) and we have a house that we use in the summers.

John Peyton, he of Beothuk-hunting fame, is buried on Exploits. Shanawdithit once had a wigwam there, during the time she spent as a servant in his house. Island legend has it that she was miserable caged into four walls, and so built a wigwam on a nearby point of land.

It's a beautiful place, full of hidden paths and nooks and crannies that time has covered over and hidden away. Fascinating place to spend childhood summers!
