About the people's republics:
The people’s republic of portland (PROP) is a platform for social exchange in celebration of Portland, OR. We are an agent for progress, creative thinking and doing. PROP is a model for progressive change that is helping build the communities of tomorrow through the sharing of information and collaboration. We support local, like-minded businesses and non-profits through sponsorship and donations such as p:ear, Zenger Farm, Focus The Nation, ORNORML, and PDX Bridge Festival.
Through the mediums of art, media and fashion we recruit, promote, and celebrate the unique people and businesses in Portland that share our vision.
The people’s republic isn’t limited to Portland. There are many like-minded communities with similar values. PROP is seeking to expand into cities such as Brooklyn, San Francisco, New Orleans, Seattle, Boulder, and other cities across the United States. Each city has unique elements that we can all learn from and build upon. PROP seeks to unite communities and work together to build a better tomorrow.
It is our goal to support and purchase from local businesses and suppliers whenever possible and to make sure that the products that are purchased have been manufactured responsibly, come from renewable resources, and have a low impact on the environment.
