About The North Downs

Photographs taken of, or from, the North Downs in England (including The North Downs Way).

The North Downs are formed of the chalk ridge running to the south of London; and stretching from Farnham in Surrey to the White Cliffs of Dover in Kent. The North Downs Way is the National Trail that traverses the length of the North Downs from Farnham to Dover.

This group aims to be a collection of photos showcasing the area that is forms the North Downs, be it pictures that include the North Downs as a backdrop, or are taken from the North Downs themselves. It can also be a place to showcase images that show abstract details within the North Downs and surrounding areas - this includes villages that are close to the North Downs.

The North Downs were an important area for World War II activity and the Drove Road that runs along the North Downs in Surrey is widely known as the Tank Road to locals for this reason. There are many reminders to the War years including a liberal peppering of Pillboxes, it is hoped that these can also be documented.

Please read the Group Rules to ensure that your photo's abide by the spirit of the group before adding them to the group pool. It is important that you geotag your photo's so that others can see where those photos are taken and give them inspiration to visit the locations in your photos.

Group Rules:
1. Photo's must be taken in, or contain an area within the North Downs area. This is defined by images of, or in, the Surrey Hills or Kent Downs AONB (Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty); along the North Downs or the North Downs Way; general landscapes including the North Downs as a backdrop; or areas surrounding the North Downs.
2. Photo's must be geotagged, so that others may find inspiration from the locations in your photo's.

4. You should comment on at least two other photos within the Group Pool (no flaming - so please keep criticism constructive) every time you upload a number of images to the group pool. This highlights others photo's and fosters a friendlier group.
5. No nude or offensive material.

Anyone found to be breaking the rules will at the administrators/moderators discretion be warned, removed or banned as appropriate. Any off-topic, offensive or inappropriate photos will be removed.
