About Masterclass
Honest and active feedback for the purpose of input and improvement.
Welcome to flickr Masterclass. This group exists as a vehicle for photographers who wish to improve the quality of their work. Please observe the group guidelines.
Submission Guidelines:
Any photograph may be submitted. But for each photograph you submit your are required to make at least three critiques of other photographs from the group. This is intended to stimulate activity, and keep this group from becoming just one more photostream full of ignored images. Also, keep in mind that by submitting an image to this group you are asking to have that image critiqued. You are of course free to delete any comments that result, but please do not take offence if someone doesn't like your photograph.
Your first submission may be made before any critiques have been given.
Critique Guidelines:
A critique should bear more substance than a comment. It should involve a level of consideration greater than "nice pic", or "pretty colors". A CRITIQUE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE NEGATIVE, BUT IT DOES NEED TO BE THOUGHTFUL.
When making a critique:
It does not matter if you are a professional photographer with decades of experience and expertise, or a fresh out of the box novice. Everyone is entitled to their interpritation of art. So make your comments appropriate to your experience. If you are technically proficient make technical critiques. If you are not, make critiques based upon what you feel.
When receiving a critique:
Remember that nobody's opinion is law. Art is subgect to the interpritation of the person viewing it. Every critique is valid, but the best art is always done for the artist. Sometimes the most fulfilling work for an artist is not met with critical acclaim, while other things that were almost an afterthought are considered masterpieces. Remember always to appreciate that someone took the time to try and see your vision.
Be Honest
- The photo was submitted to be critiqued, do not be afraid of hurting the artist's feelings
- Honesty is not an excuse for rudeness. Comments should be directed at the technical or artistic properties of the image, not the artist.
Do not take offense if the artist chooses to delete your critique, it should be made for their benefit, and needs only reamain if the artist wishes it to.
Group members are expected to police themselves. You know how many critiques you've made, submit accordingly.
Removal from group:
Members will be removed from the group if they show consistant disregard for the guidelines.
