About The Madison

The Madison - track cycling's maddest, most intense race.

Known as 'the American Race' in France, the Madison was invented at Madison Square Gardens in New York. It was an attempt to circumvent rules which insisted that the riders involved in 6 day races rested for at least 12 hours a day - but which didn't state that riders had to leave to track to race!

Photos of Madisons in progress - including derivative events like the Madison Kilo time trial - or top Madison riders are welcome.
