20 Feb 12 - The Europeans group is part of a larger Europeans photography project. It is the intention to make a lasting contribution to European photography, and European culture. We want to document contemporary Europe in pictures. The idea, further on, is to arrange exhibitions and a book with the best photographs - to be selected by a panel of judges.

About The Europeans

In 1955 Henri Cartier-Bresson published a small book that would add to his fame as a photographer. The name of that book was The Europeans.

HCB wanted to make a picture portrait of Europe after the war. It was a sad and glooming Europe trying to raise itself after the war disaster. But the photographs were optimistic. They were first class photography.

This project is inspired by that what HCB did more than fifty years ago. Technology has changed, so the project has changed. It is not going to be a one man thing as HCB's project was. It is going to be a collective endeavour. For the time being it is going to be a virtual project.

The ambition, however, is to arrange exhibitions in each major country both for national portfolios as well as for the whole project. There will also be a book about it.

This flickr group is a photo base camps for the project mentioned. For more informations about the project, please see this site: theuropeans.com/

Your photo may be selected for display at that site.

The project runs from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2015. As a starter.

Good luck with it.

All pictures posted should:

1. Have people as a distinct and bearing element.
2. We only want quality work. Post your best images.
3. Images must be straight photography. Both colour and black & white images are welcome. You should not post images that are composites, manipulated and heavily edited in post production.
4. Preferably be tagged with the City and Country where the pictures were taken.
