About The DIA Evening Post

Norman Rockwell made plenty of pictures of family for the cover of The Saturday Evening Post. You can see a gallery full of them in American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell, an exhibition on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Now, most of Rockwell’s families look like they just came off the set of Leave It to Beaver. Since each of us has a special take on family that may or may not match Rockwell’s, we’re asking a question:

Who’s your family?

Got an image in your head?

Show us. We’ve invented The DIA Evening Post, a fun way to explore your image of family. Here are two ways to share:

1. @ the DIA

• visit drop-in workshops
• create an illustration for The DIA Evening Post answering the question, “Who’s your family?”
That’s it. Your illustrations will be uploaded to The DIA Evening Post Flickr Group and tagged with workshop dates. Bonus: your illustration will be displayed in a community gallery for museum visitors to see.

2. @ Home
• download The DIA Evening Post: Who’s Your Family template
• create your illustration
• scan-in or snap a digital photo of your illustration
• upload your image (jpg, gif, tiff, png) to The DIA Evening Post Flickr Group. Feel free to add a caption so we can get to know your family.

Need help uploading? See Flickr’s FAQ page for more info.
Don’t have a Flickr account? Email your image with caption to whosyourfamily@dia.org. Submissions will be posted within 1 week.
