About The City as the subject

The purpose of this group is to reveal the many different aspects of cities all over the world. This is meant to be a study into cities, how they are shaped, how they have emerged, how they are, and where they are going. We want to see all representations of the city, whether its a beautiful city of culture and arts or a destitute derlict town that has seen better days. We want to see how you see the city.


The main idea of this group is to reveal the hidden sides to cities, so we're not looking for the obvious Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty pics (although truly stunning shots of famous landmarks (in cities) are always nice to see, so will be welcomed).

The aim for this group is to show other people who may be travelling to your city what they should look out for. Ideally I'd like members to be able to search for a city within this group and see what it has to offer before they go there; it's good points, it's bad points and everything in between.

What we'd like to see:-

- what makes a city different from other cities
- it's architecture
- it's monuments
- it's public spaces
- it's grafitti
- it's people
- it's backstreets and alleys
- it's humour
- the city at night
- areas off the beaten track

Plus we'd like to see what interests you about your city or the cities you've seen.

PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT CITY IS THE SUBJECT OF YOUR PHOTOS. PLEASE TAG YOUR PHOTOS WITH THE NAME OF THE CITY IT IS OF. WE WANT TO KNOW WHERE IT IS YOU ARE SHOWING US.

I'm well aware that there are already loads of city/urban/street groups already on Flickr, but I want this to be a global representation of cities where you can show the world the place that you live and the places you've been.

Please feel free to invite other city and urban photographers to join this group, as that's what it'll need.

Needless to say anything that is not city related will be booted out of the group's pool, and we don't want anything pornographic either, so don't even think about it.
