About The Boxcar Art Hall of Shame

I started taking pictures of defaced monikers sometime around the mid 90's, and including them in packages that I was sending out when I was part of the trading circuit. While some of the recepients understood my rationale for documenting them, many were asking why? My next step was to bring some of these images on over to www.boxcarart.com creating the "original" Boxcar Art Hall of Shame and place them online for the world to see(this was when I had my pages at AOHell in the late 90's). Now in in 2007 not only have others followed my lead by taking pictures of these aerosol covered monikers & sketches put up by boxcar artists from the 70's,80's and early 90's but many yielding spraypaint now understand the importance of leaving them intact. The word has spread, but the crusade isn't over. We must continue to spread the word until the masses understand the
importance of these monikers and why they should be preserved.
History is being lost because of carelessness and ignorance. Please feel free to add your photographs of monikers, sketches and streaks that have been destroyed as well as posting examples of those artists using spraypaint as their medium who have gone around them (Yes, the entire piece as well as the closeup). Let's give credit where credit is due. Thanks, M.Poulin
