Women aspired to take care of their families, to create beautiful and loving homes and were respected for literally being 'homemakers'. Housewives were also a source of pride for their husbands and families and were even considered role models to girls and younger women.Back then, it was not offensive to believe that "a woman's place is in the home." Well, I am of the notion that homemaking is still a lovely, respectable and noble vocation.
So,please submit pre-1970s nostalgic images and illustrations of vintage homemakers and housewives, in their aprons or not, performing housework, rearing children, at the market...you know...gladly doing what was once considered "woman's work".I'd like to see images that are happy, sweet and pretty.No irony and sarcasm,please...and, also, please remember that this group is family friendly.
