About Used Future

Used Future is a literary concept of modern science fiction, of creating a world that looks and feel old and used. The term was coined by George Lucas when referring to the look and feel of his film Star Wars. But it goes beyond the vision of Lucas. It can inclue things like Cyberpunk .Movies like Blade Runner, Mad Max, Akira, and many more. Those are just ones I thought of right now. New technology mixed with old. artifacts from another world.
It is all about aesthetics, crusty and worn aesthetics from the road ahead. Or shiny and new looking but in use. Those "the future is now" moments and places. I don't have any rules really, post what you feel fits this description. But fear not, if it is just out right not a fit, i'll pull it.

Laurie Anderson something like - Let's put some dirt into virtual reality. It is that kind of used future.


there is another group like this on flickr, but it seems to have suffered from bit rot. i tried to contact the owner to see if i could take it up, but nothing came back. so i've made my own.
