About The Outsider Festival

The Outsider is a combination of music festival with the joy of the outdoors and all the activities you could wish to do! The very first one was held on Midsummer Weekend, Fri 22nd - Sun 24th June 2007, on Rothiemurchus estate in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, in the Highlands of Scotland.

On the Talisker Stage and The Planet tent were:

King Creosote, Peatbog Faeries, Salsa Celtica, Motherfunk, KT Tunstall, Idlewild, Willie Mason, Blazin' Fiddles, Fred Deakin , Capercaillie, The Complete Stone Roses, Septeto de Tivoli, Roddy Hart, The Great Calverto, Isa and the Filthy Tongues, Zak Zagarelos, Cinephile, Crowded House, Guillemots, Eddi Reader, Justin Currie, Shooglenifty, Moonshiners, Roddy Woomble & John McKusker, Injuns, Make Model, Julie Fowlis, and Lenny Love.

In the Comedy Zone at the Bothy were:

Karen Dunbar, Craig Hill, Stephen K Amos, Tony Law, Michael MacIntyre, Kevin Bridges, Greg McHugh, Stephen Davidson, and, for the kids, James Campbell.

Films on show in the Dalwhinnie Pavilion were:

An Inconvenient Truth, In Search of Robert Millar, Earthed $, Death or Glory, Joe Kid on a Sting-Ray, Kranked 6, Happy Feet.

The Forum, in the Dalwhinnie Pavilion, hosted by Kirsty Wark, included:

Pauline Sanderson on The EverestMax Journey;
The Dragon's Glen on new energy solutions;
Adventure Sports;
Can we walk our Green talk?

... and hosted by Lord David Steel, included:

Suprabha Seshan on Inspiration from The East;
Mark Edwards on Hard Rain;
Shaping the Future, Climate Change and Everything.

There was also a Food Village, with an amazing array of foods, and Tipi Village for Kids activities.

Outsider Active included:

The Merida Outsider bike Marathons of 25k, 45k, and 65k,
Britain's Most Beautiful Run, a 12k run through Rothiemurchus and along Loch an Eilean.
