About The Edge
The Old Auditorium building at the State Library of Queensland is being redeveloped to become The Edge, a creative space for young people. The Edge will deliver exciting programs and creative opportunities for young people.
Ideas from you, your friends and others are being gathered to help inform the architects about the kinds of spaces and things that need to be included in the physical design of The Edge.
The designs and plans for The Edge will be developed in early 2008. The Edge redevelopment is expected to be completed and ready for you to create, produce and enjoy by the end of 2009.
There will be fantastic facilities and media labs to support young people's creation of art, film, photography, music production and recording, gaming and design, community based publishing and digital story telling. There will also be exhibition, presentation and outdoor spaces for chilling out and activating.
We want to hear what you want to see in The Edge; what you'd like to be able to do, what it should look like, and what you want from it.
Please help us out by submitting or finding pictures. The Edge will be a creative space for YOU. You are the ones who influence the design. So get thinking!
We want to see everything from photos taken by the Edgy Advisors (a group of young people directly involved with the State Library Queensland who are sharing their ideas on what the Edge should be), to photos of buildings/places/colours that you like and that inspire you.
Once the Edge is up and running, in 2009, this group will of course feature photos of events, programs, workshops and the art created at The Edge.
