The silverware has been polished to a deep rich lustre, the crisp linen napkins have been elegantly folded, the crystal chandeliers glint opulently, throwing their twinkling light on the costly furnishings.

The scene is set for the most extravagant soirée ever hosted on flickr. Discreet waiters in evening dress glide noiselessly, bearing trays of the choicest canapés.

It only awaits you, our honoured guests, bearing your treasure of the most breathtaking images on flickr. Your invitation takes the form of a luscious chocolate, offered only to those images seen to truly epitomise the mood of this unique occasion.

The award may be offered by any of our guests, to any flickr member, but we pray that you observe the following simple rules:

1. To ensure that we collect only the choicest examples, we ask that you only invite images that have already been given an award from one of the many trophy groups found on flickr, and have added their image to one of those groups.

This rule is vitally important. It should also ensure that the photographer is happy with the concept of award groups. We have noted that not all flickr members derive joy from these groups, and would not wish to cause irritation to photographers who would rather not receive an award from us.

2. We are not trying to become an enormous group. Rather, we seek to limit our portfolio to those images that can genuinely brighten a dismal day. While there are many delightful images in the groups, all of which have been felt worthy of commendation, we seek those extra-special images that offer that little bit more. Therefore, we ask that you consider wisely upon whom to bestow the award. We ask that you bestow it only on those images which you feel truly epitomise the award group in which you saw the image.

3. A weekly competition will be held to honour the image that most fully epitomises the aesthetic of the Ambassador's Soirée. The winner will be chosen by the ambassadorial staff, and displayed in the competition thread.
