should be a breeze under cygwin, but I can take a quick look when I get home and manage to dig out a windoze box, probably later this week ..

I was able to compile and run it under cygwin:

1) Go to www.cygwin.com and follow the instructions for downloading and setting up the cygwin binary (look for "Install or update now"). Cygwin is a unix-like shell that runs under windows.
2) Make sure libpng_1 is included in the list of libraries to load (you will see this option on the cygwin install window).
3) Go to: www.w3.org/People/maxf/textorizer/ and follow the instructions for downloading and compiling textorizer.c (it is very easy). You will need to compile from cygwin (which is a command line/shell similar to DOS)
4) From the command prompt, type in ./textorizer -h and you will see instructions on running the program.

It took me 5 minutes to download, compile and run (but I had cygwin installed). Add another 10 minutes to install cygwin. Cygwin is a great program and opens up a lot of possibilities on your windows box.

Keep in mind that textorizer produces an SVG formatted file. If you want to upload to flickr, you will have to convert it to JPG, GIF, or PNG.

Send me a flickr email if you have any problems.

Thanks Яick,

I found a windows machine and built a zip file containing a cygwin compiled textorizer.exe:

textorizer.whatfettle.com/textorizer-win32.zip

As you say, you still need to rastorize the SVG and it only reads .png files ..

Paul,

I got Textorizer II compiled and running using Cygwin. I'm now trying to get the texturizer.php script working. Seems that on line 98 it calls dl(texturize.so). I'm thinking that texturize.so is for unix. Do I need to convert it to a .dll to get it to run in windows?
