About Texas Street & Documentary Photographers

This group is for Texas photographers (and non-Texans who often shoot in this state) who focus primarily on street & documentary photography and/or photojournalism. What constitutes street photography? Wikipedia defines street photography as a type of documentary photography — without explicit social agenda — that usually features people in candid situations in public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings. The book Bystander is an excellent overview of street photography. Things like urban or rural decay, architecture, found abstracts, etc. will probably fit here as well. Documentary photography may or may not involve people, but generally follows some type of theme. For example shooting a rodeo may constitute documentary photography but shooting zoo animals probably wouldn't fit here.

This forum isn't a place to post photos of your pets, kids, zoo animals, flower macros, general nature type shots or studio shots. Street or documentary portraits are encouraged, but please no family or model photos.

I've decided to open this group up in order to gain more members.

POSTING PHOTOS:

1) A limit of 10 per week. Please don't flood the gallery with ten at a time! No more than 3 in one day and 10 in one week.

2) I ask that you please put the location (Austin, Dallas, Abilene, etc) in the title of any photo you post here so people can search for pictures by city or town.

3) Try to keep things fresh. In other words don't post ten different pictures of the same person or building. The moderators, at their discretion, may remove any pictures they feel do not fit here. Please don't take offense if this happens.

Suggestions? Feel free to ask!

Happy shooting!
