About Temenos Photography Competition

Amateur photographers are being offered the chance of a lifetime - the opportunity to get one of their pictures on postcards to be delivered across the globe.

To celebrate the completion of Temenos – the sculpture at Middlehaven by world renowned artist Anish Kapoor and leading structural engineer Cecil Balmond – Tees Valley Unlimited will be giving away postcards with every copy of the Evening Gazette and its sister paper The Journal on June 10.

Anish and Cecil were recently confirmed as the artists chosen to create the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture to mark the London 2012 Olympics are acknowledged as among the most sought after artistic talents in the world.

TVU wants people from all over the North East to spread the world about Middlesbrough by sending postcards to their friends and relatives around the UK and overseas.

Each paper will contain two postcards – one shot by a professional photographer and the other the best submitted as part of a competition run in conjunction with the Evening Gazette as part of the ‘Talk Up the Tees Valley’ campaign.

A panel of judges will decide the best ten photographs and then readers will be asked to vote of the winner.

Once the postcards have been distributed we’d also love to hear how far and wide they have travelled.
