thanks for saying almost john.
personally i get sorta offended when people say they listen to everything.
that is not physically impossible, new things are being made non stop.
i listen mainly to hardcore/ hardcore-straightedge music (and no hardcore doesn't mean korn or some random metal-core band, as well i dont listen to hardcore bands that scream and yell about violence but more about rebuilding oneself and surviving in a world of hate.) i also listen to a few indie-ish bands, and some pop bands which are in the hardcore community (set your goals, crime in stereo)
sorry for the paragraph, it just bothers me that people cant listen to what they like without someone questioning or judging.
great topic.

I love TOBYMAC and superchick....yeah...i know it's a girl band but i've stuck with them since i went to their first concert. I also like just regular pop like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilara, Fall out Boy(just their latest song), Toby Kieth, Keith Urban, (Most Country), (Their are a whole bunch more but i'm blanked out at the moment) I pretty much like anything with no screaming that i can't undersand what's being said.

But mostley I listen to The Gorillaz, The beatles, C-mon and Kypski (dutch), Opgezwolle(also dutch), Queens of the stone age, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Moby, Fatboy slim, DJ Yoda, DJ shadow, Muse, Jurassic 5 and lots more.
I also noticed that most of the music I listen to is British and not American like I expected...

gnar, rachellyn-- Thank you for the reality check. Just means people are finally getting good taste, right? ;) Gotta admit, I feel kinda *uncool* (for lack of a better word, maybe I mean un-indie) when I like popular bands, but hey, no ammount of "specialness" will keep me from my addiction to '90s pop!
Hector-- MIKA! <3
I dig ambience kinda stuff, Zero 7, Morcheeba, Sia, Lamb, good ol' chill out music. A lot of piano, voxalicious, indie stuff too, like Fiona Apple, Jason Mraz, Ben Folds, Mirah, The Blow, Stars yadda yadda. And because grouping shit together doesn't do it for me, I'm a huge Metric, Incubus, Nickleback, and other good alternative rocky junk fan. I like music. Period.

i dont want to be a dick, but i have to say this.
seriously though photography im not judging you based on your music you like, i just wanted to say this, because for some reason this has happened in society.
"hardxcore" isnt a genre, no band in your list is hardcore, for some reason there is this thing where everyone thinks bands like underoath and etc are hardxcore or something, they are just metal-core bands, im not saying dont listen to them, im saying just because someone puts hardcore in their myspace profile as genre doesnt make it true, there are millions of people in the world who then turn and look at me and others like me and ask if we are all "hardxcore"
i just thought id say that not to be rude, i just want to inform before the whole world forgets what real hardcore is.
same thing with emo.
its not a fashion, its not hawthorne heights, it died in the late 90's and morphed into the worst trend/music.
real emo isnt screamo.
blah/

as iloveizzy said, who cares what someone wants to call the music they listen to? stop getting up on your high horse about what bands belong in what genres!
thank you :)
ok, so that this post has something to do with the topic, i'll throw in a few: oldies like def leppard, aerosmith, & ACDC, nickelback (widely looked down upon but i think they make great music), 30 seconds to mars (awesome guitar intro on Fantasy), and any country song i can dance to :)
thank you :)

sorry if im like the troublesome poster or something, that wasn't my intent, i wasn't saying genres need to be established. personally i believe there shouldnt be genres because it just further seperates us.
i was just saying that it bothers me when half the world looks at the hardcore community and judges it based on false pretenses.
anyway, on a sidenote this whole topic shouldn't just be people listing music, cause i could look at their profiles for that.
whats wrong with trying to stir up some conversation instead of reading lists.
sorry and once again im not trying to be a dick im writting this in the most neutral way possible.
im not here to argue.

PS;
xRoarimapandax, I totally agree with all your said. It makes me giggle when people are like "Oh hay Underoath is oh so hXc."
Well, actually, it makes me kind of queasy... but whatever.
I also think it's good to discuss the music, rather than just list it. The thing is most people just post what they like, because they want people to look at it. Most people wont actually read what everyone else posted, and ultimately this will be just a long thread with lots of lists just hangin' around.

I think you're just a horny bastard lol. I don't think Underoath are hard, the guy struggles too hard to sound all hard and stuff but he's not grasping it yet. That doesn't stop me from listening to them though.

I'll listen to anything, but my own collection is made up mainly of rock, indie, electronica, bit of pop, jazz and classical.

I hate when people with tons of music on their computers complains over my 300 songs in iTunes.. I'm totally indifferent... I think music is a thing you're enjoying, and not about having a lot of it... I have a friend that has over 2500 songs in his library, and he never listens to it.. But he still complains over my small amount of songs.. Then i'm just saying that i enjoy my music.. Then he is quiet ;-)
Well, these are the artist i've got:
The Alpine, Arctic Monkeys, Carlas, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Cribs, Dirty Pretty Things, Epo-555, The Flaming Lips, Franz Ferdinand, Hard-Fi, Håkan Hellström, I Am Bones, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Kent, The Killers, The Kooks, Mew, Morrissey, Nephew, The Rakes, Sidste Ambulance, Teitur, Veto, Wolfmother
Mostly indie.. :-)

Having 300 songs makes you more narrow minded and less open to more music.

Yup, but i enjoy it... But yes, i see your point, and i'm also extending my horizon when i listen to my friends music... The thing i think is laborious, is when they complain my small library, and compares it with their big ones... Then music is just an.. object, that you have so you can show off.. That is not ok in my opinion..

that doesnt make you narrow minded.
having 2500 songs and not listening to 2000 of it makes you ignorant.
so what if you only like a few bands what ever sounds good to your ears and brain should be what you listen to not what people want you to like.
people who list every single band on the face of the earth and say they like it all is a little extreme.
but i agree with you in some ways when people only listen to like old rock bands (not saying its a bad thing) but it is ok on some cases to TRY to expand your horizon.
and i still dont see why you called me horny.
O_o
if its cause i said i liked the last 2 posters, then idk why you said that i would of said the same thing if they were guys.

ewww, don't worry kjaergaard 92, I only have about 600 songs, and I love about 95% of them. On desktop I have about 1900, and would listen to them all, but I'm never downstairs. I guess I'm ignorant for not listening to 1300 songs. LOL
Roarima, you know those 2 posters were cute, and you wouldn't do the same if they were guys, I'll admit it myself.

gnar, I don't think he could like me for that reason as I don't listen to any hardcore. I can tolerate it, but I wouldn't download it/buy it for my own personal listening. Just not my cup of tea. Plus, how could you say he's talking about my looks when I really don't have any pictures of me other than my tiny icon?
Oh, and also to gnar... I take pictures at shows sometimes. I have a few from a Jeffree Star concert I went to recently. The best shots, anyways.

Also, if you have a problem with Jeffree I'd advise you not to look. I also don't want to hear any "Eww fuckin' fag" remarks or I'll have to beat someone down. Jeffree is such a sweetheart.

regina spektor and the rent soundtrack mostly and its very fortunate since they are right next to eachother on itunes.
when i branch away from the Rs, fiona apple, wicked soundtrack, umm. "indie pop" stuff too, i guess. i cant say i like everything because i hate some songs. i kind of really dislike that slow pop r&b stuff, but i love real blues and jazz. i like some good hiphop stuff. i also like some classical stuff since i grew up with the piano. i like techno a lot too. i just started dancing [in school]. im very tone sensitive.
i dont like taking pictures of bands and going to concerts. hey, someone has to say it.

i've got more than 500 songs in my library and ill be honest i dont listen to all of it all the time. but the stuff i do listen to and wear out is frickin awesome.
sorry to see most of you like overrated bands *tsk tsk*
my tops are ...
Nine Inch Nails
(the original-)Sky Eats Airplane(-their new stuff sucks ass)
Chevelle
Between the Buried and Me
Drop Dead Gorgeous
A Perfect Circle
Tool
the ones i hope will die soon in a freak gasoline fight accident are ...
Metallica
Hawthorne Heights
AFI
Disturbed
Linkin Park
There are a few post-hardcore bands like Atreyu and Saosin who the singer's voice annoys me. Bands with no purpose and direction in their lyrics bother me too (cough - good charlotte - cough) but if you suggest a band to me ill be more than happy to check em out
if i think of more ill update =)

I listen to any sort of music, but mainly obscure music. The most current singer I listen to who's got lots of radio play is Cyndi Lauper. I've fallen in love with The Gossip but I don't know how much they're actually played on the radio.
My top three are most certainly HUMANWINE, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and the Dresden Dolls.
Others that I love are Zoe Keating (cello looping insanity! love it!) Rasputina, Regina Spektor, Joanna Newsom, NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL(!!!), and so many others. I have a last.fm/users/mimesaresosexy if anyone's interested.
