thanks for sharing this great action.
This is my result.

Regarding the effect: I just altered a the vignette layer changing the blending mode to multiply and reducing the opacity a little bit.
Regarding the image: it's not an original of mine, it's a derivative work for an assignment for a group. The original picture is Nahariense's

This is the effect I have been waiting for! My only problem is, I have PSE6.
Has anyone got an action or script for it in PSE6?
(BTW I am only new to PSE6, so making the leap from one programs script to another may be beyond me!)
Thanks

|
I've done this in PSE. You just need to split the image into RGB components and then substitute contrast and levels adjustments for the curves. No script, but I'll try to find the time to post detailed instructions later on.
Here's the result I got, although I reduced the opacity of the modified layer to lessen the effect in this image.

i love this tool thanks so much, gives a good result everytime, though i tend to darken the image before hand.
only problem is its a bit addictive? a lot of my snaps lately go straight through the photoshop action and theres never really any thought as to why. Anyone else stuck lol? x

balaclava, good choice
Here's another one of mine:

Maybe I simply missed seeing it or need reminding; is there a way to change the size of the vignette? Using the sliders I could make it smaller but it got sharper (more defined) as well. I wanted it to stay foggy. I'm guessing it's a matter of fiddling with the gradient sliders.

Texas set fire,
Its a vignette. You can do it by:
1) rectangular marquee tool
2) draw selection approx. 1in. from the edges
3) R. click on picture > feather 75 (feather according to pic size)
4) R. click on photo> select inverse
5) R. click on photo > layer via copy (this saves selection on another layer)
6) In layers pallette select multiply>adjust opacity
