About Te Ara - the Encyclopedia of New Zealand

Post your favourite photos of New Zealand places and life in New Zealand to the Te Ara Flickr pool. You can now view the new editions added on our homepage.

Te Ara Flickr holds images of New Zealand from our entries about New Zealand places – so far covering Northland, the Bay of Plenty, the Volcanic Plateau, Manawatū and Horowhenua, Wairarapa, Wellington, Canterbury and South Canterbury, Wanganui Southland,, Westcoast, Otago, Hawke's Bay , Taranaki , Waikato and Nelson, . We are now working on the Hauraki and Coromandel entry.

‘Te ara’ in Māori means ‘the pathway’. Te Ara – the Encyclopedia of New Zealand offers many pathways to understanding New Zealand. When complete, it will be a comprehensive guide to the country’s peoples, natural environment, history, culture, economy, institutions and society.

Contributing to the group
Please keep images family friendly. All images are moderated and approved before they enter the pool. We also welcome your discussion in the group topics.

Using your images
Te Ara is visually rich with images and other media resources, and we are always looking for relevant images to use in our entries. Occasionally we will call for quite specific images, or images around a particular theme.

If we want to use one of your images, we will contact you directly to ask your permission. You will be able to reserve all rights to your image. We will also ask that you send us the image in the highest resolution you are able.
