About I've been "tck tagged"!

You've been "tck tagged"?! Time to join the fight for climate justice and against climate change, supporting the Time for Climate Justice project and the upcoming United Nations meeting to decide on the replacement of the Kyoto protocol (Copenhagen, December 7, 2009).

So let's deliver together: time to share, time to spread the word around, time for climate justice! The clock is ticking…


I've been "tck tagged", what should I do? Three easy and fast steps:

1) Upload a movie of myself (alone or with others) saying "tck" on my Flickr stream and post it in this group. (For the movie, my webcam may just be fine)
2) Register and upload the same movie on Time for Climate Justice. It only takes a second of my time, and doing so I join some very distinguished figures in the international community (Kofi Annan, Barbara Stocking, Dante Martinelli, Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Walter Fust, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, etc.) as well as any one of my friends and family.
3) "tck tag" 5 or more of my Flickr contacts copying and pasting the invitation I'll find hereafter.

That's it! While the clock was ticking, you've done something simple but great for your wonderful and precious planet, and therefore also for your kids and all the future generations, as well as for millions of people among the most poorest who lack the resources and means to cope with the climate change impacts.

A small involvement from you becomes huge when added to everyone's commitment!

The clock is ticking. In December of this year, the United Nations meet to decide on the replacement to the Kyoto protocol, a defining agreement that will determine the future of our planet in the face of the climate crisis. People around the world are dying today as a result of climate change and without our collective action, this will continue. We have a collective opportunity to stop the clock. Become a Climate Ally, by recording and uploading yourself saying 'tck'. This will register you as someone who wants to see climate justice delivered. Our aim is to create the biggest online petition ever, that will be targeted at the world leaders attending the Copenhagen talks, demanding that they make fair and robust decisions that deliver a just climate deal. Every way you engage registers you as an ally, so get everyone you know involved, pass the message on to your friends and family to do the same. You can get even more involved by purchasing climate tags and other apparel, or simply spreading the message in your area (see our downloads section for more easy ideas). Together we can deliver justice. Tck tck tck. It's time for climate justice.


What is climate justice?

Climate justice means ensuring that people everywhere are safe from danger and free from suffering due to climate change. Those most vulnerable to climate change today are the world's poorest groups, since they lack the resources and means to cope with its impacts. It is also a clear injustice that these groups suffer the brunt of the impacts of climate change without any responsibility for having caused it. 99% of the casualties due to climate change occur in developing countries, but 50 of the world's least developed nations account for less than 1% of greenhouse gas emissions that are the main cause of climate change.

Ensuring the poor can live in safety means providing substantial additional support to these communities, a responsibility that falls to major polluters. But ultimately people everywhere are vulnerable to climate change - around 4 billion people in total. And unless action is taken, young people around the world today will be forced to live out their lives in danger. Urgent action is essential for doing justice to the basic needs of all people.
