About Taylorcraft Classics - Cub, Chummy, Ace, Ranch Wagon, Seabird, ZClarence Gilbert Taylor, a self-taught aeronautical engineer from Nottingham, England, developed a sturdy yet lightweight, reliable little high-winged monoplane called the Chummy in 1926, along with the Taylor Cub in 1931. When Taylor moved to the US, his company was bought out by a Pennsylvania oil man named Bill Piper, who took the design and produced that now familiar pretty little yellow airplane with the same name. Derivatives of the Cub are still being offered by various companies to this day. |
