About Tattoo Candids -- Tattoo Street
For photos capturing candid moments in the lives of the tattoo'd: Candid photography may be the purest form of journalism. Candid means spontaneous, immediate and/or unplanned, rather than set-up, posed or staged. People photographed candidly are either unaware of it or they ignore or accept the presence of a camera without posing. The events documented are often private, involve people in close relation to something they do, or involve people's relation to each other.
Some develop candid photography into an art form, capturing the "decisive moment" in everyday life. Almost all successful candid photographers master the art of making people relax and feel at ease around a camera. They blend in at parties, gatherings, or on the street, and find acceptance despite the obvious intrusive element of the camera.

ADMIN'S TIPS FOR TATTOO CANDIDS
Close Ups versus Candids
- Close ups of body parts featuring a tattoo are good when the story of the photo is the tattoo: but it doesn't generally make for good candid street photography, when the story of a photo is generally supposed to be something about a person (who happens to be tattoed.)
- Generally, people look more interesting when you can see their face. The eyes are the window to the soul, right? That's not to say a photo of someone from the back can't be OK. Sometimes that angle can actually work well to best convey some idea or feeling.
- Decapatating someone's head in a photo (cropping so the frame ends at their neck), may make for a good photo of a tattoo, but it doesn't usually make for a good photo of the person as a whole being.
- As for cropping joints in general, it usually looks better to crop a person's limb's between their joints rather than at their joints. for instance: at their calf rather than their ankle or knee.
Performance Artists: People who are putting on a show of any kind (musicians, magicians, mimes, comedians, etc) are not behaving candidly. Often, they have an expectation of being photographed. You may catch them offstage or in-between sets in what could be a candid moment.
Sports: People engaged in sports is kind of a grey area in terms of being candid. While they are not generally posing or concerned about photographers, they are putting on an show of sorts (at least at the professional level or the amateur level where their is an expectation of having spectators.)
The occasional non-candid,if it's not in any other tattoo group, may be waivered from the candid requirement.
