About Tales of Tinkering

Do you know a tinkerer? Are you a tinkerer yourself - or more of a crafter or quilter? Is tinkering men in sheds with three wheeled washing-machines - or is it creating and modifying open source software?

Can millions of online tinkerers save us from climate change? Is the digital age one big tinker? If you're a bottom up or non linear thinker and not a store bought person, you most probably tinker.

Tinkering means different things to different people. But we'd like to hear what tinkering means to you. Especially if you tinker with objects, photos or sound?

Future Tense on ABC Radio National has interviewed Alex Pang about his article Tinkering to the Future, published online. It is great piece where he puts forward his theory that the products, technology and designs of tomorrow are being discovered now by people who like 'tinkering'. The idea of mad inventors in sheds might be a bit simplistic it is people who try to better products by customisation and reinvention.

Tinkering to change, to play or to improve - Future Tense wants your Tales of Tinkering.
