I want to take more photos, and hopefully so do you.

To help pressure each other into doing this we will be setting regular challenges to get us off our backsides and out taking photos.

How do these challenges work?

For each challenge a topic will be set up and a theme and a deadline will be set. Each challenge will run for 3 weeks and end on Tuesday nights.

The idea is we get out and take some photos to try and produce the best photo for that theme. Each person is allowed to submit only 1 photo to the theme.

To submit a photo simply find the photo in your photostream and then click "All Sizes" above the photo. Choose the Medium size.

Scroll down to the HTML code near the bottom of the page, right-click on that box and select Copy from the shortcut menu. Go to the topic you want to submit the photo to and paste the HTML into the "Reply to this Topic?" field, and hit Post Now. Voila my padawan learner.

How do we decide a winner?

Once the deadline has passed the name of the topic will be updated to say VOTE: theme name. Any member is then allowed to vote for the 1 picture they think is best for the theme (not necessarily the best photo). Voting will remain open for 1 week (closing on the next Tuesday night).

To vote, reply to the topic and state the username of the person that submitted the photo you want to vote for. e.g. I vote for m.urphy.

One of the group admins will then count up the votes at the end of the week and announce the winner.

What does the winner get?

Eternal fame! Well, actually - they get recorded as the winner in the theme suggestions list, the group icon (top left) will change to their photo, and the get the honour of choosing the next challenge theme!

What else do I need to know?

There will be 2 challenges running at any time (overlapping by 2 weeks).

The idea is to take and submit NEW photos to the challenges - try not to submit pictures from your back catalogue unless you are really stuck.

Feel free to submit photos to the Group Pool for the rest of the group to see.

Feel free to start new topics - but leave setting up challenges to the group admins.

This group is Public - so anyone on flickr can find it, but it is invite only, so we get to control who becomes a member. Anyone on flickr can see photos in the group pool, but only members can see the discussion topics - so don't worry about what you write in a reply ;o)

This group is marked as being "Safe" - in flickrs words: "There is no offensive content in the group, and it is ok for a global, public audience". so please abide by this.
