About So, you want to be a Professional Photographer Lottery

This group was created as part of the So, You Want to be a Professional Photographer anniversary celebration. We had such a great time, this is now the only way new members are invited into our group. No more memberships by default because someone has been waiting the longest. The lottery allows the most creative applicants to rise to the top each challenge for one of the invitations. New theme challenges are posted as space in the group and time of the admin allows.

There is still membership criteria that needs to be met before you add your image to the theme challenge:

-be an active flickr member (having joined and participated in groups) for a minimum of two months

-your photo stream must reflect a focus on children's photography

-you need to have at least five or six portfolio building sessions in your stream of a child/family other than yours. Please create a portfolio set so we can find it easily.

- you can even already be a professional photographer in your first year of business.

Please do NOT apply if you do not meet the above criteria. If you are in doubt please email one of the judges.

- The images in your flickr stream will be factored into the judging. If you have made your images friends and family you will need to add the admin of the group to your list.


Fine Print - The image can not be taken earlier than the theme announcement, no pulling shots from your archives. Only one photo for person. You may delete and add a new photo up until the close of the contest. PhotoShop, altered images and collages are all accepted. You may have someone else take the image if you are in it but under no other circumstances may you use someone else's image.

Be creative and get out there and shoot because each theme will end at midnight EST. Absolutely no exceptions will be made, do not even ask!

Any and all complaints about the rules or winners should be handled by email and not posted publicly, no one likes a sore loser.

By submitting your image to this group pool you agree to let SYWBPP use the image in promotional fashion on Flickr and the party blog. You will be given full-credit and will still maintain full rights to the image.
