About Sydney Flickr Meetup

Concept

There will be an official monthly meetup, but if there is an event happening in Sydney which you believe to be “flickr worthy” (protest marches, free concerts, fairs, dog shows, free outdoor sporting events, lamington stalls, church fetes, public world record attempts, a tiddlywinks competition) or just think that it would be cool for a number of people to shoot place X, then create a meetup on the forums.

The idea is to make the locations as varied as possible, some pretty and photogenic, some gritty and photogenic. If you know of a corner of Sydney that is full of interesting things to shoot, and think that it is under-represented in a flicker image search, why not organise a meetup there.

This group is not one of those “elite” invitation only groups, it is open to all snappers of all skill levels, the concept is to allow people to meet other photographers, and through that contact grow technically and artistically.

A place where Canonites and Nikonlodians can break bread together, where point and shooters can mock slr users for the huge gear bags they have to carry around (while envying their pixel count), where film purists can wax lyrically to digital snappers about the joys of the darkroom. We have more similarities than differences.

The Rules (sorry to be a kill joy)

In the spirit of the group (i.e. going out and shooting together) only photos which were taken on a Sydney Flickr Meetup will be eligible to be added to the pool (it does not have to be an official meetup).

You can add 25 photos to the pool a month which should be more than enough.

Suggestions (i did not want to make the rules section too long)

•Add the tag “Sydney Flickr Meetup” to photos that you add to the pool.
•Invite nice people who you think might be interested to join the group or tag along to an event.
•When creating a meetup in the forums, try and create one at a time when one does not already exist, the group will be stronger if the events are spread out.
