Why not Bern ? It's not only central, but also very pretty. We could meet there and go for a shooting expedition, and then share our photos online !

Culinary specialty: Bärner Platte. But on our Blogger Meetings we usually had Pizza (everybody loves Pizza, it seems). Since I live in Bern, I'm all for Bern, of course. What's the date of the meeting?
BTW, I took the liberty to mention it on the blog.ch/blog/index.php/archives/2005/09/10/flickr-treffen...
And another BTW, here are a couple pics of swiss bloggers.

I'll be traveling to Finland and am away till 28.9. So after that would be great ;) And on weekend, not during the week, oder? I think most of the people will have to work or study or whatever during the week.

Here's an idea: what about saturday 29th of october? The reasons are these:
- it's far enough ahead for people to book. If there's a lot of us, it's far enough ahead to be able to book tables in a restaurant.
- it's just after fall break for those who leave at that time
- it's close to halloween, and there might be neat decorations in the streets. I don't know Bern nightlife, but there may be costume parties or something going on later for those who want to stay late.
We could meet around 2ish, go for a stroll and take pictures, have supper, and then everyone can decide if they've had enough and either stay or go home.
And another question is, who's got suggestions for restaurants that have lots of room and aren't too pricy ? It seems to me there's some italian places towards the Bärengraben...

29 October sounds fine by me.
Restaurant:
I'd like to suggest Il Grissino (Waisenhausplatz). It's not expensive and the food is wonderful (if you like Italian). We had a couple Blogmeets there, like I mentioned before. Another fine place is the Altes Tramdepot: they have kinda sorta Bayerische Küche and great beer. But more expensive than Il Grissino.

Of course mates and aliens are welcome! I don't know if you're gonna find a place to park your flying saucer anywhere close to the city center, though.

Train travel is recommended, for sure! Parking costs a fortune, and if you're lucky enough to find any, it's kilometers from where you want to be.

Strange you should say that Ariel. I agree that the parking charges are exhorbitant but I've never ever had trouble finding space near where I want to be. Even during fasnacht or large events. Switzerland is the only country I've lived in where this is the case.

I think its a question of persistence. If you don't give up and spend some time on it you'll find one. But if you have weak nerves, better take the public transport! :-)

Parking shouldn't be a problem actually, there's an underground parking twenty meters from the restaurant. I have no idea whether CHF 4/hour is expensive.
However, the restaurant is just 5 minutes from the train station, and trains are a lot more convenient than cars in our crowded Switzerland. So I'd recomment train travel myself. Which makes me wonder why the hell I searched for the link to the parking in the first place.

A suggestion for the meeting place: the square in front of the Bundeshaus is big and easy to find. From there, we can assess how many people we've got and then sort out the restaurant. I think it'd be quite a good idea to spend some time going around the city, as many will be visitors to Bern. What we really need is a nice guy, a local who really knows the city, to show us around. Aha...!!! I know just the person....!!! :-)

Hi ! One more guy in the group and ready to meet....
I\'m Jean-Luc, frenchy, living in La Chaux-De-Fonds....
A nice thing would be to imagine a photo project during tha meeting.... What do you think about making a big circle and take a pic of what\'s just in front of us ? A sort of multi-image circular panorama ( trademark)....lol
See you there !

I agree with meeting at the place in front of the Bundeshaus, the fountains are wonderful and they're a good excuse to stand around and wait for the other flickerites to show up.
How do we spot another flickerite? That's simple: Just check who's standing around looking kinda embarrassed and hoping for someone to recognize him/her as a flickerite. It's how we do it at the blogmeets, and it always works 100%.

Or we could all make little buttons, like this one:

Or even that one...

They are are 5 in a pack; I'd probably have to buy a couple packs myself and send them to all of you, eh? That's how these shops work, people buy their own stuff. What am I getting myself into...
However- some people might read the text as "fickerland", which means something completely different... so maybe it's not such a good idea after all ;-). Whaddaya think?

Just an idea... www.spreadshirt.net/shop.php?sid=85656
UPDATE: of course, if I'd put the correct URL on the first version, that would have been good :-/ Now updated... and design changed sightly, so that the logo is spelled in the original dialect.

In last tuesday's 20mins, it was reported that the tower of the Jules Verne bar on Uraniastrasse (above Brasserie Lipp) in Zurich will be lighted at night by light-artist Gerry Hofstetter (he did the Grossmünster during last year's Zürifäscht). This will be between October 4-8 from 19.30 onwards. I'll keep an eye on the weather and decide which day to head out. If others are interested we can meet up for a drink before, make some photos then adjourn for more drinks!

hum, i have an higher priority on this day, which is beer: opening of the zurich oktoberfest. and as i got some invitations, i can't possibly miss it :)
anyway, i make also a post in the zurich group, we should perhaps move to this group for further discussions.
i guess it would be possible to meet people during the 5 evenings the event is running. i'll have a try on friday probably, whatever the weather is.
